How to get there....
When you visit Muringa Vila, you will probably arrive at Trivandrum International Airport (TRV) or at Trivandrum Central Railroad Station. The distance to Kovalam is about 12 km from both locations, and you either take a taxi or a rikshaw, depending on the time of arrival and the quantity of luggage.
However, you should tell the driver the following:
-Go to Kovalam.
-On Kovalam Junction you go right, down on Kovalam Beach Road to Kovalam Main Beach.
-Do not go to Lighthouse Beach or Hawa Beach, go to Leela Beach/Main Beach.
-Pass by the entrance of the Leela Hotel and go all the way to the ocean. Beach Road ends `here in front of a Mosque right at the ocean.
-Now you are within a 100 meters from Muringa Vila Veedu!
(Muringa Vila means: the place of the Muringa Tree. Veedu means: house).
You can ask for Muringa Vila Veduu or directly for the house of Ramla and Hussain, local people (shop keepers and fishermen) will know - but there are lots of indian tourists on the beach and they have no idea. You turn your back to the ocean and you can see a newly constructed building of a Ganesh Temple behind a parking lot. You drive up the gravel road or walk uphill and pass by the Temple into a small valley. You will see a set of buildings on the rim and Muringa Vila Veedu is right in the middle. Please look up the location on Google maps on the home page to get a better idea about the turf....if you visit Kovalam the first time, and perhaps your arrival time is in the middle of the night, things can be confusing.
And if you get lost, call Hussain and Ramla (or let your driver do so): 9656170759
