Democracy in Kerala State, India
You can explore a good part of Kerala from Kovalam as your base. Day-trips to the Poovar Backwaters, to Ponmudi Hillstation, Neyar Dam Wildlife Resort, Shivananda Ashram, Kanyakumari with Vivekananda Memorial (South Point), Varkala, Trivandrum...are just a few of the "must do's". A good and easy way to do so is by taxi. Up to six people go for as little as 50 Euros per day to any of these places, and the driver is your tour guide, too.
Trips to the Munnar Hills, Thekkady Tiger Resort, Allepey Backwaters, Kochi and other further away places take a few days, but keeping Kovalam as your base and "coming home" after a three or four day trip to the mountains is something really comfortable and rewarding to do.
Touring Kerala
If you are going on the road starting from Kovalam, Anas is the man to hire. He is our Driver. He is local, knowledgeable, and experienced. With him as your driver and tour guide, you can plan your trips individually and flexible. He and his brothers operate several cars, so you will find one according to your needs.
